Driving Mistakes You Shouldn’t Make

While many of us think that driving is just like riding a bicycle which you get used to after a lot of practice and a skill that you will never forget, it is still a very dangerous task. Whether you have been driving for two decades or a week, the risks you take while on the road are still many and sometimes lethal.

You for example, have been driving for at least five years. You have grown so used to driving it feels like second nature. The bad thing about getting so familiar with driving is that you sometimes start taking it for granted. Instead of paying attention to this task, you do other things because you are quite confident of your driving skills. The next thing you know, you are right behind another vehicle that had suddenly stopped. Two things could happen; one is that you hit the vehicle in front of you, or the vehicle behind you hits you because you suddenly braked.

There are a lot of things that can turn our attention away from the road. There’s your perennial companion – the mobile phone; there’s also the radio, your mp4 player, your smartphone, and other contraptions. Also, you can easily get into accidents if you are driving while thinking of other things, very emotional, quite sleepy, exhausted, or even inebriated.

Here are some reminders that you should take note of whether you have been driving all your life or a novice:

1. If you really cannot get your hands off your sleek, new mobile that has features like e-mailing, texting, music player, games, and so on, you had better try and get as much game as you can before you drive, or you can make it your reward for getting to where you are supposed to be I one piece.

2. When running late on your way to work, speeding up would be of no help your safety; especially if you are also trying to get in some work done like checking your mail through your phone. If you slept in late, or when you are on the road and the traffic is horrendous, wait for the next stop sign and make a quick call to your office to let them know your situation.

3. Do not be an aggressive driver. Aggressive driving includes not putting enough space between you and the other cars on the road, not following traffic rules, ignoring the speed limit, weaving in and out of lanes, running red lights and stop signs, and cutting off other vehicles. Sound familiar? You hate it when other drivers do these acts but you fail to notice that you do the same things at times too. There is no exception to the rule- be safe and keep other safe all the time.

4. Always strap you and your passengers safely. Safety seat belts and lap belts are all put inside your vehicle for a good reason. Make sure that you use these safety harnesses as they can save your life and the life of your passengers in case you get involved in an accident.
